Information We Collect if You Do Not Register to use the Site

Many Site features may be used without registering to use the Site.  If you visit the Site and have not registered, we do not log information from your session.

Information We Collect if you Register to use the Site

The use of certain Site features requires prior registration.  If you are under the age of 13, your parent or legal guardian must complete the registration for you.  When you register with the Site we ask for

  • an e-mail address
  • a userid that you create
  • a proposed name for the character the user will assume within the Site
  • the gender you want for your character
  • a password that you create
  • optionally, the user’s birth month and day

For users under the age of 13, we ask for the parent’s or legal guardian’s e-mail address rather than the child’s.

The only personally identifiable information we store is the e-mail address that is provided during registration.  If an e-mail address is provided when making an inquiry using the “Contact Us” feature of the Site, we respond to the inquiry and delete the e-mail address.

We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information of children under the age of 13.  If we discover that a person under the age of 13 has provided any personally identifiable information, we will delete that information from our system.

How We Use the Limited Information We Collect

We use the e-mail address provided during registration to confirm the registration.  This process is intended to ensure parents are aware of a child’s use of the portions of the Site that require registration and to prevent computer programs (Internet bots) from registering with the Site.  We may also use the e-mail address to send periodic information regarding features of the Site, to send a Site newsletter, and to respond to inquiries.  We will not use your e-mail address to send you or to allow others to send you third-party advertising.

If you are a parent or guardian of a user under the age of 13 and you do not want your child to use the portions of the Site that require registration, you may simply refrain from responding to the registration confirmation request.

All e-mail communications that we send out will

  • include accurate header and accurate and specific subject line information
  • include a clear indication that we are the sender

If you do not wish to receive e-mail communications from us after your registration is confirmed you may “opt-out” when you register or by following the opt-out instructions included in any communication from us.  You may also at any time opt-out of receiving further e-mail communications, or cancel your registration, by contacting us as indicated under the “Comments and Questions” section below or by using the “Contact Us” feature of the Site.
